Training and conferences
Thematic training and continuing education for professionals and students.On request, we can set up continuing education on topics of your choice.
Designing and delivering training on ISS Switzerland’s topics, approaches and tools is part of our training mission. By focusing on guidelines and good practice drawn from casework, we create synergies between ISS Switzerland’s expertise and the reach of the international ISS network, with a view to sharing practice and strengthening advocacy.
The training is intended for professionals working with separating families (judicial authorities, lawyers, child protection workers, mediators, psychologists and psychotherapists, social workers, etc.). Our training is delivered on behalf of universities, universities of applied sciences, professional associations and others.
ISS Switzerland also organises conferences and workshops and can be invited to give specific presentations.
Intercantonal meetings on the care of unaccompanied asylum-seeking minors and former UASMs
Every year, ISS Switzerland organises a regional intercantonal meeting on the care of asylum-seeking UMs and former UMs, bringing together professionals, experts and volunteers in the field.
These meetings provide a platform for exchange and networking on current issues in support work. They encourage the sharing of experience and good practice, interdisciplinary dialogue and the development of responses tailored to the challenges faced in the different cantons. Each meeting focuses on a specific theme and may be organised in cooperation with specialised organisations and partners.
University and continuing education
At the request of universities and universities of applied sciences, ISS teaches on initial and continuing professional training programmes (Bachelor, MAS, CAS and DAS). ISS Switzerland currently holds mandates in French-speaking Switzerland from the universities of applied sciences and schools of social work in Fribourg, Lausanne, Geneva and Sierre, and in German-speaking Switzerland from those in Zurich, Lucerne, St Gallen and Bern.
Webinars and workshops
Webinars and thematic workshops are organised by ISS Switzerland’s teams as needed or on request. For German-speaking Switzerland, an annual webinar on ISS Switzerland’s services and the legal basis of international child and adult protection is open to professionals from child and adult protection authorities (KESB), guardianship services and protection services. In addition, an annual webinar in German is organised for social services in the asylum sector.

Partnership with the Children’s Rights MOOC
The childrights-mooc is the first Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on children’s rights to bring together professionals from all fields related to childhood in Switzerland. It offers an inter- and transdisciplinary perspective on children’s rights, an indirect dialogue with experts through videos, and is based on Swiss case studies. It is free of charge and has no prerequisites.
