Strategy 2026–2029
Six objectives
Our strategic planning is based on an analysis of the internal and external needs and opportunities of ISS Switzerland. It identifies how our organisation and our work can develop and improve over the next four years.
The 2026–2029 strategy La stratégie 2026-2029 du SSI Suisse se déroule en six objectifs : trois objectifs organisationnels qui concernent la gestion interne et structurelle, et trois objectifs métier qui expriment l’évolution de notre pratique et de notre expertise.
Organisational objectives

Operational governance
Establish, through a participatory process, an operational governance model that realigns roles, responsibilities and the management of activities with developments in the field.

A sustainable, solidarity-based funding model
Develop and diversify funding sources to secure financial stability while upholding the ISS principle of solidarity.

Artificial intelligence
Assess the potential and risks of using artificial intelligence with regard to data protection, confidentiality and reliability, and define a clear ethical position within this framework.
Professional objectives

Swiss network
Consolidate the position of ISS Switzerland among Swiss child and adult protection actors and among the main actors in the field of migration. Realign roles, responsibilities and the management of activities with developments in the field.

Global network
Create synergies between the expertise of ISS Switzerland and the reach of the international ISS network, with a view to sharing practices and strengthening advocacy.

Best interests of the child
Launch a reflection on child participation and on hearing the child’s views in the practice of ISS Switzerland, in line with the principle of the best interests of the child as defined by the UNCRC.
ISS Switzerland is the partner of choice for international child and adult protection.
Impact in Switzerland
Helping practice and legislation evolve
The expertise of ISS Switzerland operates at several levels, and its impact in Switzerland can be seen:
- among the people concerned, who are the direct users of its services;
- among child and adult protection professionals, through training, thematic events and advice;
- among public actors and authorities such as the courts, the Federal Office of Justice (FOJ) and the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA).
Pilot projects
The cantons draw on the pioneering expertise of ISS Switzerland, based on interdisciplinarity and networking, to run local pilot projects (for example on parental consensus in cases of separation or divorce, or on the reintegration of foreign detainees in their country of origin).
International dimension
Institutions and NGOs working in child protection in Switzerland see ISS Switzerland as a partner offering great added value thanks to its reach in 120 countries — a network and international dimension from which Swiss actors can also benefit.
A reference actor
ISS Switzerland works with cantonal and federal authorities in asylum and foreign nationals law, civil law, criminal law and child and adult protection. As a stakeholder in the thinking and developments in these fields, it issues position papers and recommendations at national level, disseminates its good-practice models and responds to media requests.
